Warren Platner

1919 — 2006

Warren Platner (1919–2006) was an American architect and designer associated with post-war modernism. Trained at Cornell University, he collaborated with major figures such as Eero Saarinen and I. M. Pei before establishing his own practice. In 1966, he designed the celebrated Platner Collection for Knoll, including chairs, armchairs and tables defined by their sculptural bases made of welded steel rods. Combining structural rigor with decorative elegance, these pieces became icons of 1960s design and remain in production today. ✨
