César Putzeys
César Putzeys (1929–1999) was a French designer best known for his sleek and innovative lighting, produced mainly during the 1960s and 1970s. He worked closely with Verre Lumière, collaborating alongside other leading figures of French modern design.
His creations are characterized by the use of anodized aluminum and simple, geometric, often modular forms. Among his most iconic works is the “Sixty Six” suspension, a futuristic piece embodying the Space Age spirit. He also designed wall sconces and chandeliers with minimalist volumes, emphasizing indirect light and the elegance of pure materials.
Featured in various exhibitions dedicated to design and lighting, Putzeys helped shape a modern approach to domestic illumination. Today, his pieces—symbols of the Mid-Century aesthetic—are highly sought after by collectors and vintage design enthusiasts.
