Marzio Cecchi

1940 — 1990

Marzio Cecchi (1940–1990) was an Italian architect and designer known for his avant-garde furniture and interiors that combined sculptural elegance with functional innovation. Born near Florence, he grew up in a creative environment influenced by his mother, Giulia Carla Cecchi, a renowned haute couture designer. After earning his architecture degree from the University of Florence, he founded Studio Most in the 1960s, where he designed custom, limited-edition pieces that are now highly sought after by collectors. A rare portrait of Marzio Cecchi can be found on The Millie Vintage website, showing him standing in front of a rustic doorway, holding a glass and dressed in a dark jacket with a bow tie. His work is characterized by bold forms and inventive use of materials. Iconic pieces include the "Serpente" sofa, the cantilevered "Diapason" desk, and a spring-based bed, all produced in limited numbers by Studio Most. These creations remain in high demand and are frequently featured in design galleries and auctions.
