Michel Deverne

Michel Deverne (1927–2012) was a French sculptor, mosaic artist, and visual artist, recognized for his commitment to integrating art into architecture and public spaces. Trained at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and the Beaux-Arts de Paris, he was one of the key figures of the kinetic art movement in France.

Throughout his career, Deverne created numerous works visible in public spaces both in France and abroad. Notable works include mosaics and stainless steel reliefs in La Défense, Paris, as well as pieces in New York, Tokyo, and Mexico City.

In addition to his artistic practice, he taught at the Beaux-Arts de Paris and at the École d'architecture de Paris-Tolbiac. In 1983, he received the silver medal for plastic arts from the Académie d'architecture.

Michel Deverne passed away on February 9, 2012. His work continues to influence public art and the integration of art into architecture.
