Giuseppe Calonaci
Giuseppe Calonaci, born in 1931 in Poggibonsi, is an Italian sculptor and painter whose artistic research turned early toward concrete abstraction and experimentation with modern materials. After founding the S.I.V.A. workshop in the 1950s, he explored the possibilities of enameled steel and vibrant color in a spirit of innovation. His work often unfolds in thematic cycles where light plays a central role, symbolized by the radiant circle as a sign of energy and vitality. Among his most distinctive creations are luminous sculptures and illuminated totems, in which metal and enameled glass structures come alive through integrated light effects. These works, positioned at the crossroads of art and design, express his desire to merge matter and light into a poetic, universal language. Exhibited widely in Italy and abroad, they exemplify his ambition to transform space into a total visual and sensory experience.
