Line Vautrin
Line Vautrin (1913–1997) was a pioneering French designer and metalsmith, celebrated for her imaginative and sculptural decorative objects. She began her career in the 1930s, working with metal and developing her signature techniques of repoussé and patinated brass. Vautrin’s work blends surrealism, playfulness, and luxury, producing iconic objects such as her “Datura” mirrors, sculptural wall lights, and whimsical decorative items. Active mainly from the 1940s to the 1970s, she collaborated with major French designers and galleries, contributing to the revival of French decorative arts after World War II. Her pieces are highly collectible and featured in museums worldwide, reflecting her inventive approach to form, texture, and craftsmanship.
