René Blanchard
René Georges Blanchard was a renowned French designer and interior architect. Born in Paris, he studied at the École Boulle, graduating in 1952, the same year he began working as a model maker at the Denis establishments. From 1954 to 1959, he collaborated with architect Maxime Old, producing drawings and models that marked his early career in design. Alongside his work as a creator, he began teaching in 1960 at the Lycée Technique des Arts Appliqués, then at the École Boulle and the University Paris I – Sorbonne from 1966 onwards. In 1969, he also worked as an urban planner at the École des Beaux-Arts. A member of CAIM and SAD, he was actively involved in promoting design and interior architecture in France. In 2000, he donated his archives to the Bibliothèque des Arts Décoratifs, ensuring the preservation of his work. René Georges Blanchard passed away in Paris in April 2025 at the age of 93.
