History:

Created by Jean-Pierre Vitrac in the 1970s and edited by Verre Lumière, the Yoyo lamp, model 10558, perfectly illustrates the playful and experimental spirit of French lighting design of the period. Composed of two opalin glass gallets balanced around a central axis, the lamp evokes, through its design, the movement and lightness of the object from which it takes its name. Somewhere between kinetic sculpture and functional lighting, Yoyo transforms light into a true visual experience.

Like many of Vitrac’s creations for Verre Lumière, the model plays with the reflections, optical effects and the mobility of forms. The object thus moves beyond its utilitarian function to become a sculptural presence in space, emblematic of the elegant and technological futurism of the 1970s. Rare on the market, this lamp stands as a testament to the importance of Verre Lumière in the history of avant-garde French design.
