History:

Created by Bernard Govin for Mobilier International, the Octa model belongs to the designer’s research into low, flexible and modular seating. Composed of lounge chairs, ottomans and tables with strong geometric proportions, Octa offers a versatile furnishing system, conceived to reshape the living space according to use and atmosphere.

A major French editor of modern design, Mobilier International played an important role in promoting a new culture of interiors from the 1960s and 1970s onward, open to the most contemporary forms of creation. With Octa, Bernard Govin extends this vision: seating becomes an architectural element, able to structure a room while preserving a great freedom of use. Through its low lines, modular design and generous comfort, the model embodies the experimental yet refined spirit of French design in the 1970s.
