This lamp by Alberto Rosselli belongs to the research carried out by the Italian architect and designer around functional, rigorous and deeply modern design. Trained in architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, Rosselli developed, from the 1950s onward, a transversal approach to design, working across architecture, furniture, industrial objects and theoretical reflection.
His close connection with Gio Ponti played an important role in his career: Rosselli collaborated with him within the Ponti-Fornaroli-Rosselli studio, contributed to Domus, and later took part in the creation of Stile Industria, published by Editoriale Domus and conceived as an essential platform for the promotion of Italian industrial design.
With its restrained lines and sculptural presence, this lamp reflects Rosselli’s desire to combine technical efficiency, formal clarity and contemporary elegance. Rare on the market, it illustrates the singular place occupied by Alberto Rosselli in the history of Italian design of the 1960s and 1970s, at the crossroads of industrial experimentation, Milanese architectural culture and a modern art of living.
