The Face à Face chair by Pierre Paulin

The Face à Face chair by Pierre Paulin
Metal tubes, foam, lacquered wood and Karakorum fabric by Dedar.
From three prototypes produced by the Ateliers de Recherches et Créations du Mobilier National.
Manufactured by ARC. France, C. 1967.
H. 62 cm ; W. 180 ; D. 65 cm.

As part of the new developments at the Louvre Museum, the Mobilier National asked
Pierre Paulin to think of a contemporary translation of seating from the past.
This resulted in a very small series of chairs designed between 1967 and 1969 by the
ARC (Atelier de Recherche et Création) of the Mobilier National. Two very beautiful
models stand out due to the completion of their design. They encapsulate all of
Pierre Paulin's talent, audacity, and refinement, but will remain prototypes (three
editions for the face-to-face and two for the back-to-back). These chairs are
environment. Both have an uncompromising design with seductive curves.
The model presented by the Galerie Meubles et Lumières is one of the three
prototypes created by the Ateliers de Recherches et Créations of the Mobilier
National.
